Water Reservoir Maintenance Project – UAE

Project Tenure: January 3, 2024 – July 3, 2025

We were engaged by a subcontractor involved in the development of the UAE’s first pumped-storage hydroelectric power plant. Our role was to provide customized access solutions across multiple phases of the project, aligned with the progressive handover of site areas by different consortium entities prior to final commissioning.

Project Challenges

The project environment presented several operational and design challenges:

  • Mixed Work Environments:
Work was carried out across rooftop structures and confined indoor spaces containing critical equipment.

  • High Humidity Conditions:
Environmental exposure required materials resistant to corrosion, making aluminium the optimal choice.

  • Limited Initial Information:
The client initially provided only a PDF with minimal site markings, requiring further clarification.

  • Restricted Access Areas:
Tight and underground pump room spaces demanded compact and modular solutions.

Design Challenges & Approach

Due to the remoteness of the site and security constraints, a physical site visit was not feasible, which as our SOP we usually schedule in order to verify site topography, dimensional constraints, environmental challenges, by way of filling our standardized questionnaires (Work Environment Assessment  and Dimension Verification Sheet Forms). Additionally, the absence of 3D files and limited technical data added complexity to the design process.

Solution Approach
To address the client’s requirements:

  • We shared our product catalog along with tailored recommendations for each access challenge.

  • Requested and reviewed detailed site drawings to ensure dimensional compatibility.

  • Designed modular, dismantlable solutions to facilitate transport and installation in confined spaces.

  • Selected non-corrosive materials, including aluminium and stainless-steel fasteners, in compliance with project specifications.

Execution & Delivery

Following client approval:

  • We proceeded with commercial negotiations and vendor registration

  • Upon award, manufacturing commenced with a focus on precision and adaptability

  • Our scope included on-site installation services

Prior to mobilization, we ensured:

  • Site readiness (power supply, access roads)

  • Safety compliance and inductions

  • Logistics planning for a remote and restricted location

Despite a tight timeline and limited working hours, our team successfully completed installation within a single day by extending into overtime. Close coordination between our design and installation teams ensured seamless execution, including minor on-site adjustments where necessary.

Key Highlights

  • Custom-engineered access solutions for complex environments

  • Use of corrosion-resistant materials suited for high humidity

  • Efficient installation in confined and sensitive areas

  • Strong coordination between design, manufacturing, and site teams

Project Outcome

The project was delivered successfully within the required timeframe, meeting all client specifications and environmental constraints. Our flexible approach and technical expertise enabled us to overcome logistical and spatial challenges, reinforcing our capability in handling specialized industrial access solutions.
